A Wikileaks Scanner

work-in-progress, but meanwhile…

an excerpted conversation of psychomedia analysts:

G.B. :  When wikileaks posted the video of the murder of journalists and civilians in Baghdad, it was an excellent, pointed, and focused attack with a specific objective. Now they have posted 250,000 documents and many of us are wondering what the strategic objective was.

P.P.: Yep, this one seems to be a bit of a mess… and very low-level leaks ( according to Daniel Ellsberg ) … Maybe there’s some interesting stuff in there to come, but now with big media operations controlling the focus and distro, it appears to be getting plucked by the powers themselves. Plucked at almost tabloid levels. [ i.e. Qaddafi's voluptuous Ukranian nurse, Hahaha. ]

And just curious to note, someone pointed out there’s no Israeli diplomacy leaks.

Is this the new IT-era “limited hangout”? ( definition below ) . And with what Geert Lovink calls an SPO-run (Single Person Organization), is it really hard for intelligence services to bend or compromise ONE person?

But ok, i’m willing to remain optimistic that it is a powerful tool that can change the deranged diplomacy being enacted around the globe. And ONE wikileaks Org is definitely Not going to be enough !!!

G.B: I agree on all points. And actually, Israel come out a winner since they now have many Sunni Arab states on record encouraging conflict with Iran.

+ Some very nice Wikileaks resources:

* “What do I think of Wikileaks? I think it would be a good idea!” (after Mahatma Gandhi’s famous quip on ‘Western Civilisation’)

from Geert Lovink and Patrice Riemens’s Ten Theses on Wikileaks (Aug.30)

* Rap News v. News World Order: Wikileaks and the War on Journalism (ft. Julian Assange)

* Democracy Now’s latest roundtable ( on the lastest leak ) w/ with Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg; Greg Mitchell, who writes the Media Fix blog at The Nation; Carne Ross, a British diplomat for 15 years who resigned before the Iraq war; and As’ad AbuKhalil, a professor of political science at California State University, Stanislaus.

* And just reading this wikipedia entry is fascinating stuff:

“Limited Hangout” – on wikipedia

Added:

* Guardian now has a geographical map to follow the embassy leaks, ( and there are a few for Israel, which look rather harmless ).

* Forbes interview w/ Assange ( Next leak will be from a US bank ! )
